Winter

The winter season brings cold weather and long nights, which is why we get so excited to see lights and beautiful decorations around the holiday seasons. Embrace this winter theme and consider taking a rustic, yet modern approach to your DIY seasonal wedding centerpiece that incorporates twinkle lights.

What you’ll need:

  • Manzanita Branches

  • Small Wooden Box

  • Paint, lace or a hammer for de-stressing the box

  • Hot Glue / Gorilla Glue

  • Moss

  • Flower petals (fake)

Our example:

Step 1: Decorate your small wooden box with paint, lace or de-stress it to your liking.

Step 2: Glue your Manzanita branches to the inside of the wooden box in various locations.

Step 3: Fill the open space in the box, around the branches, with moss and/or flower petals.

Step 4: Decorate the branches with splatter paint, twinkle lights or some flower petals tied and/or glued to focal-point sections; consider something like star jasmine.

Step 5: Sprinkle some more petals around the base as the finishing touch.

Spring: Make it Fruity!

When we think of spring weddings we think of fruit, blooming flowers, and thoughts that are happy, upbeat, tropical and fun. For our Spring DIY centerpiece, fruit gives you the opportunity to use a wide range of colors that are not traditionally listed in the DIY centerpiece rulebook. If you’re open to trying something that’s outside the norm, our summer DIY Centerpiece below would work great for spring as well!

What you’ll need:

  • Large vases to accommodate your fruit arrangement

  • Water

  • Floating Candles

  • Fruit of your choosing (real or fake)

  • Knife for slicing fruit

  • Accent florals

  • Decorative fillers (glass marbles, colored stones, etc.)

Our example:

Step 1: After choosing your fruits, these can either be sliced or whole. Based on your decision, prepare your fruit however is needed.

Step 2: Add your sliced and/or whole fruit to the vase. To keep them in place, consider adding your decorative fillers.

Step 3: Fill the vases with water and place a few floating candles on top. If candles don’t sound appealing, consider replacing them with floral petals or whole floating flowers for the perfect accent.

Step 4: Add a few additional accents around the vase on the table.

Fall

Thanks to the changing colors and lush foliage, fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Thus, it can be used to your advantage to make some stunning seasonal DIY centerpieces for your wedding.

What you’ll need:

  • Leatherleaf fern

  • Salal

  • Silver dollar Eucalyptus

  • Baby’s breath

  • White Roses

  • Floral Wire

  • Decorate Vases

Our example:

Step 1: Separate each item into piles. From there, trim the florals based on the size of your vase.

Step 2: Starting with the leatherleaf fern as your base, start adding the additional florals to individualized groups, excluding the roses.

Step 3: Once your ‘base’ arrangement is complete, add in the roses as needed. From there, still outside the vase, pinch the bottom of the arrangement and tie it together using floral wire.

Step 4: Add the arrangement to the vase of your choosing. Upon analyzing the display, add in additional florals as needed (to hide the wire, additional accents of roses, etc.).

Step 5: When placing these arrangements on your tables, add some colored leaves, candles or rose petals on the table surrounding it.

Summer

The summer wedding season is light and fun, so your DIY centerpieces should reflect that mood! With assigned seating at weddings, you often have people sitting together who haven’t met. So, by adding something they have in common to your DIY arrangement (you!), it may drive the conversation.

What you’ll need:

  • Photos of the bride and groom (black and white and/or colored)

  • Decorative frames for each image

  • 1 Balloon for each table

  • Floral accents or succulents for each table

Our example:

Step 1: Print out your favorite images of you and your partner. These can be childhood photos, images that date back to your very first date, or whatever you desire!

Step 2: Put the images in the frame.

Step 3: Place a simplistic floral arrangement or single succulent on the table, next to the framed photo.

Step 4: Get festive! Tie a single balloon (we recommend white) to the succulent.

Step 5: Step back and admire the simple, yet nostalgic centerpiece.
